A Worldview Apart

Mar 14, 2018

This episode is dedicated to Daniel Quinn, an author who passed away on February 17, 2018. In this solo episode Eric talks about some of the themes he found most inspiring in Daniel Quinn’s Ishmael trilogy, particularly how Quinn interprets the Book of Genesis’ story of the fall of man as an allegory lamenting the abandonment of hunter-gatherer lifeways and the adoption of agriculture and hierarchical society. Eric also reflects on how Quinn discusses the impacts of colonialism and colonization in his books, and how those same themes were explored in the recent Marvel blockbuster Black Panther as well.
